Have you ever been listening to music and found yourself tapping your feet or drumming your fingers. Most people have an inner drummer just waiting to get out. If this is you, you should check out Rhythm Exchange.

Owner and Instructor Steve has created the perfect space for letting it all out. He has one mission and that mission is, “to bring rhythm to everyone”. Steve teaches mainly African style drumming but just the name, “Rhythm Exchange”, lets you know they are open to anything rhythmic.

His philosophy is if you improve rhythm in one part of your life and it can carry over into other aspects of your life.

Rhythm Exchange has set up in what is fast becoming a very hip part of town. It’s the once thriving industrial area south of the Lachine Canal. The building is the old “Trane” porcelain works where “The Rocket” once worked to support his family. The building has been converted into industrial loft space. Upon entering the building you feel like you are stepping back in time.

You can’t help but notice the openness and the many different activity stations as you enter the suite. No pretentious furniture or decor. As a matter of fact the first thing that caught my eye was Ikea children’s furniture. You will see a multitude of hand made Djembe drums of all sizes and skin types. This space seems to be the perfect spot to make lots of noise. The courses vary from beginner to expert. There are on-going classes, workshop packages, group sessions of 1 ½ hrs and private 1 hr lessons. No matter what your level there is a place for you.

If you are planning a special occasion, a birthday, a school event or a family reunion make it an event to remember. You can organize a party and bring your own food or have your favourite caterer supply the food. Either way you choose, it’s your way.

These events can be tailored to your specifications. Kids from 6 to 106 can participate. Rhythm Exchange has experience with special needs children and can accommodate most special requests.

Turn your next corporate event into a team building exercise. Check out the photos of the 1500 people who attended the largest corporate drum event ever held in Canada.
